Hi John,

I thought I would send you a quick note to let you know how my career search "journey" ended up!  I left my company (with a negotiated severance package) ... and set out on a 5 month 'vacation' touring the US and Canada....When I wrapped up our trip, I set up several informational/exploratory meetings with various business professionals in Santa Fe.  As a result of these meetings, I stumbled across the Mortgage Banking Industry.  It was just what I was looking for!!  After two informational meetings with the president of one of the local Mortgage Bankers there, I was offered a job.... I then received another job offer from another Mortgage Banker in Colorado.  As it turned out, the offer in Colorado was too good to turn down, so here I am...and I can tell that I am going to love doing this!  So, you were right, I was not going to get a new job through the traditional way.  I ended up switching industries, but I am utilizing the set of skills that I already had in my 'basket.'  And I am working in a position that was created for me.  Where were you hiding the crystal ball?  I appreciate all of the help you gave me some time ago-it proved invaluable!

I thought I would bring you up to date on what has happened since I met with you back in February of this year.

Approximately a week after finishing with you, I came into contact with a Computer Consulting firm called Preempt, LLP who took me on as a subcontractor on a couple of widely divergent projects:  one for a bank, one for a telephone company.

That work led to me being hired by another consulting firm, New Resources Corporation, on a permanent basis.  So, here I am helping Green Tree Finance figure out what to do if things go to hell in a hand basket on 1/1/2000.

All this at the $70,000 base salary I was shooting for.

I want to say that there is no question in my mind that I would never have accomplished this without the help and insight you brought in our conversations.  I would definitely recommend your services to anyone in need of career counseling.  I just thought you would like to know.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help and reference.   I am going to Cardiovascular Consultants.  The position is w/ a lot of opportunity for growth.  They are also very big proponents of continuing education.
